The Sweet Peas are blooming and I like to pick these beautiful blossoms early in the morning, fresh with the fragrance of heaven.

When I bring them in to the house they perfume the whole room. Although I am so fond of most every flower, these are my favorite.

Every year it is a celebration when the roses bloom on the front side-walk trellis. The City of York white roses cover the whole trellis, but this year the David Austin roses of gold, corals and pink intertwined high up the sides to show off their beauty and add to the bouquet of fragrance.  The beauty and fragrance were intoxicating.

The roses are lovely, but my favorites are the three darlings; Maddie and Elle and my Caitlin taking the time to smell the roses.

Framed Bosc Pear

This pear image was a card sent to me by a friend in its first life. I thought the bosc pear was so elegant that I framed it. This is not the end of the story because I had to add several embellishments:

  • • An old piece of gingerbread in the shape of an arrow that my brother, John, gave me. He broke it off the porch of his old house that he demolished in a little town in Nebraska. I gold leafed this to match the frame and added a cloud of gold strands pulled from antique gold bullion fringe.
  • • A tiny watercolor of a pear that I painted.
  • • Finally, a price tag with the printed words “bosc pear”.

Fishing Painting with Lure - Margaret Furlong

I bought this framed print at an estate sale. Actually I was going to just use the frame and lose the print, but after it sat on my kitchen counter a few days, I began to find it rather charming. I had a drawer full of vintage fishing lures and found the one I attached to the frame bottom. It is not only a great color match, but, of course, the subject matter match is terrific.

I attached two small eye screws to the bottom of the frame and then just hung the fishing lure.

SNOW IN MY BACKYARD

When I woke up this morning it was snowing and cold enough to actually stick. Some winters it doesn’t snow at all where I live in Oregon and never this late in the year. It’s past noon and still snowing. Well, it’s beautiful and fun and we are enjoying it.

The photograph is my back yard garden shot early this morning!
